So it seems that the latest release (v2.06) still has some irritating bugs.. er.. I mean… “undocumented features”
We plan to do a patch release very soon that should resolve the known issues. Hopefully the issues already reported surrounding loss of game state or weird behavior in selecting levels (levels you’ve already completed being locked out, losing your progress in the game etc) have been resolved. If not, please let us know!
We have just published an update which hopefully fixes the issues some users are having with not being able to load previously completed levels.
We weren’t able to reproduce the issue here, so I’m not 100% certain that the fix will work. Please let us know if it doesn’t!
Recently a customer contacted us regarding some issues with the game. We’re not sure if it’s a problem with the game, or with the customer’s device but in any case the customer requested a refund.
But… there is no way for us to refund unless we have the Order Number associated with the purchase, so I emailed the customer to request this information.
Unfortunately for the customer, they are using PeoplePC as their ISP, who use a challenge/response anti-spam system. That’s all fine, but I tried to respond to the challenge, I was greeted with this:
So I can’t contact the customer to get their Order Number, to refund their order!
That’s OK.. I’ll just contact the support for PeoplePC… after all, they have 24/7 Live Support right?
Or maybe not….
So If you’re out there Elisa… please send me your order number!
Oh.. and for anyone else reading… may want to skip past the PeoplePC aisle when browsing for an ISP… just my opinion.
It’s official, we’re famous. Well.. sort of.
After a few conversations with the good people at Google, and some last minute bug fixes, today Google has listed Ozzy’s Odyssey as a featured up under both the standard featured section, and the “Featured Tablet Apps” section.
This is a huge win for us as despite any external marketing efforts we make undertake, nothing beats being front-and-center in the Android Market.
Not sure how long we’ll retain this coveted status, but we’re just happy to have been noticed
Well.. maybe it IS true that 3AM deployments are a bad idea :S
It seems some users are experiencing fatal “black screen” failures from the new version. Rest assured we’re aware of it and working hard to reproduce/fix.
Ahh the joys of Android development.
Finally.. it’s here. The new version of
Droid Ozzy’s Odyssey is live!
We had to rename the game (again!) because it seems the word “Droid” is a trademark of Lucasarts and we don’t want to cause any confusion for us or them. Hopefully this is the last time we have to rename!
Well.. it’s 3AM here and I need to sleep, so I’ll post full details later. But for now, you can check out the new version here:
I know! I know!
So April came and went, and still no full version right? Believe me, we’re just as eager as anyone to get it out. Just putting the finishing touches on it now. Only a few days away!
Also while I’m here…
If anyone reading this has also posted a comment on the Android Market about not being able to complete a level, please contact us directly via the email below and we’d be happy to give you some tips. Obviously we don’t want to broadcast solutions as that may spoil the fun for some people!
Add the subject line “Solution Needed” and we’ll get straight back to you.
Well.. it’s been a long time since the last update, but you’ll (hopefully) be happy to know we are almost ready to launch the full version of Droid Odyssey!
We have been spending our time over the past weeks building out a host of new levels for the game. If you’ve already played the BETA version be prepared from some really tricky levels in the full version!
We’re currently aiming for a mid April launch, and a total of 20 levels in the game (plus a few hidden extras )
Check back for updates and more details on what’s in the new version soon…
We had to do a quick patch to the recently updated v1.06 of the BETA to chase down a couple of rookie mistakes we made!
Here are the changes:
- Fixed the Force Close when opening options.
- Fixed (avoided?) a weird force close that occurred during a multi-touch event
There are also some additional smaller fixes that we are going to wrap up in to a 1.08 release, namely:
- Smarter pre-loading of help (tutorial) images to save memory for lower end devices
- Fixed incorrect reporting of Multi-Touch selection in Options upon new install.
We will also be adding these new features:
- Adding a “Recommend” function to recommend the game to your friends!
- Added new “Extras” section which (for now) contains the Options and Feedback function, but may include other stuff in the future.
Exactly 1 month after publishing the first BETA version of our little game, we’ve hit 50,000 downloads (51,002 to be exact) according to the stats on the Android Market.
Thanks to everyone who has downloaded and played the game, and especially to those who have provided feedback. It has been a great help!
